Be like God by making his word our life

An old Hebrew story places Abraham sitting outside his tent one evening. An old man, weary from age and journey, approached his dwelling.
Abraham rushed out to meet him. Greeting him, he invited the old traveler into his tent. The old man's feet were washed. Food and drink were given to him, following the custom of hospitality in the Middle East.
Without saying a prayer or blessing, he began eating and drinking. Abraham asked him, “Don't you worship God?” Replying, the old traveler said, “I worship fire only and reverence no other god.”
Hearing this, Abraham was incensed and grabbed the old man by the shoulders, throwing him out of the tent into the dark, cold, night. The man departed.
God himself spoke to his friend Abraham, asking, “Where is the stranger?” Abraham replied: “I threw him out because he did not worship you.”
God answered: “Abraham, Abraham, I have endured him for 80 years, although he dishonored me. Could you not endure him for one night?”
Time spent with God develops God's nature in us. Psalm 1 says, “…when we delight in the law of the Lord and meditate in his law day and night, we will be like a tree planted by the water that brings forth its fruit in its season.”
When we see God and hear God, we will be like God by making his word our life.
