Best Pool Service: Acme Pool & Spa
If for some reason Acme Pool & Spa can't serve a customer's particular need, that consumer is not out of luck.
If nothing else, the Yuma company will look for someone else to help out the consumer, even if it happens to be competitor, says Cara Knapp, owner of the Acme.
“We don't just throw you out the front door,” said Knapp. “We're just real eager to satisfy the consumer.”
But chances are, Acme will be able to meet the customer's needs. With two stores in Yuma, Acme doesn't just service pools; it sells and builds them — in whatever shape, size and depth the customer seeks.
And as its name implies, Acme also sells, installs, repairs and maintains spas.
Knapp says good customer service and variety of service has enabled her stores to survive and thrive at a time when the recession is shuttering many businesses.
Those qualities also appear to have had something to do with Acme's showing in Yuma's Best. Respondents in the Yuma Sun's survey of readers' favorite businesses picked Acme as providing the Best Pool Service in the area in 2010.
Knapp said she is “honored” by the readers' recognition of her stores, located at 2741 S. 4th Ave. and 841 S. Avenue B.
The two stores collectively employ 16 employees who hold a variety of industry certifications that allow them to build in-ground pools and spas, then service them and, if necessary, repair them.
“We also carry portable spas and pool pumps and filters and other equipment. We also perform acid washing and tile cleaning. We do deck repairs and renovations,” Knapp said, citing a list of services that Acme performs.
And, she continued, Acme also carries and install solar heaters that supplement gas heaters, cutting the homeowner's cost of heating a pool in the colder months of the year.
Acme maintains 16 service vehicles to travel throughout the area to service pools, Knapp added.
She conceded that Acme would be struggling in the current economy if it only sold pools or it only serviced them. But it serves all the needs of customers, whether they want to have a pool built or want one maintained, she said.
Good customer service even means referring someone on to another pool business if necessary, Knapp said.
“If a customer came into the store, we would do all we would need to do to satisfy them.”
In the end, Knapp added, Acme's goal is to build an relationship with a customer that continues long after the pool is in the ground.
