“Oh yeah,” he said. “I handed out 6,000 flyers personally. I went around every day and night for the last two weeks before and after work passing them out at businesses, on cars in parking lots – everywhere.”
Afroman got his start in 1999 when he released his first album “My Fro-losophy.” Then in 2000, he released his second album “Because I Got High.”
The song “Because I Got High” went viral on the Internet before it was played on the Howard Stern Show. After that, the song became a mainstream hit worldwide and was nominated for a Grammy in 2002.
According to Afroman's biography, the song is about the ill effects of marijuana.
Later, the song was featured in the films Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, The Perfect Score and Disturbia.
He has been signed by Universal Records for a six-album deal.
