You're covered … well

What a relief to hear the words “You're covered” spoken by your insurance agent.

Several years ago, our family enjoyed a day-trip to the Grand Canyon from Prescott, where we lived. My wife, our daughters, and my wife's mother and father, were parked to the side of Interstate 40 just north of Ashfork. I was sitting in the driver's seat and my attention was strongly drawn to the rear view mirror on my left. A van traveling at freeway speed was coming in a pattern that would “rear-end” us.

Starting the vehicle, turning hard to the right, and driving over highway markers, I avoided the potentially fatal collision…although the approaching van was so close that our van rocked from its passing.

When I called my agent, he said: “Pastor, you're covered extremely well.” The exterior damage on our new van was totally repaired.

Extreme coverage describes the divine protection experienced by our family on that summer day. We were very aware of God's protection. The words my agent spoke were very accurate. Coverage was provided by the contract between me and the insurance company…that I paid a price for.

“Extreme coverage” was provided for us at no cost to us.

Covering care is available. Everyday can be started with real assurance. “You who sit down in the High God's presence spend the night in Shaddai's shadow say this: ‘God you are my refuge. I trust in you and I am safe!' That's right ~ He rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you~ under them you're perfectly safe; His arms fend off all harm.” Psalm 91:1-4 MSG

The Rev. Paul Killingsworth serves as pastor at Yuma First Assembly.
