Air show information is inaccurate
The March 9 Marine Corps Air Station Air Show is billed as “Saluting Our Brave and Time-honored Korean and Vietnam War Veterans.”
As one of those veterans, I am offended by the air show website use of History.com's account of the Korean War, which is riddled with inaccuracies and deprecation of our sacrifices for freedom there.
First, Korea was not just an American problem, as History.com implies, but a United Nations war. The U.N. Security Council voted to expel the North Korean invaders, and 13 member nations as well as the U.S. sent combat forces.
And the war didn't end with the July 27, 1953, armistice. No peace treaty was signed and the two Koreas are still actively at war, with the U.S. Army's Second Infantry Division alert at the Demilitarized Zone.
It's important to keep that in mind in view of North Korea's recent advances in nuclear weapons technology.
With the growing possibility that Americans may again have to fight and die in Korea, we need accurate information, not propaganda from left-wing intellectuals and journalists.
