Event raises funds for youths

On Dec. 2 our fundraiser for 12-year-old Alexis Gallardo who is battling leukemia was held at the Yuma Fraternal Order of Eagles 398 hall.

We enjoyed the non-stop music by DJ Rudy Espinoza who so graciously donated his time and talents for the event. People were dancing and Alexis who was briefly in attendance prior to leaving for Phoenix for additional treatments, played pool with his friends and family.

Through the hard work and generosity of family and friends of Alexis Gallardo, and the employees of Bud of California, Dole Fresh Vegetables and members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 398 Aerie and Auxiliary, a substantial amount of proceeds were raised to help offset the expenses of the family. Alexis is currently undergoing the first treatments which have been scheduled for the next 3.5 years in his battle against leukemia.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated their time and talents, raffle items, monetary contributions, food, bought raffle tickets and participated in the auctions because without your involvement and generosity this event would not have been a huge success.
