Starbucks hit by armed robber
The Starbucks Coffee shop at the Yuma Palms Mall was robbed late Thursday morning by a man who displayed a gun to the clerk and demanded money.
According to Yuma police, at about 10:53 a.m., a suspect, with what appeared to be a handgun under his shirt, entered the coffee shop and demanded money from the clerk.
"The suspect lifted the front of his shirt and and displayed the gun to the clerk," said officer Clint Norred of the Yuma Police Department.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled on foot toward the east where he eventually got into a car.
The car is described as an older model grey or silver passenger car.
Norred said no one was injured in the incident and there were at least three customers in the store at the time of the robbery.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his 20s with a thin build and 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, black sweater with a light colored undershirt with a collar, black pants and white tennis shoes.
The Yuma Police Department is asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact them at 373-4700 or 78-crime to remain anonymous.
The Starbucks was closed temporarily while police conducted their investigation.
