The Tree House, Yuma's only hourly childcare facility, has been sold. It is now owned by Marcia Worley and her husband, David Spears, who is a firefighter, and been renamed Tree House Preschool Inc.

In other changes, children can now stay for up to six hours a day in the drop-in day care. And the business has expanded into the entire building, adding 2,000 square feet of preschool classroom space.

To introduce the preschool to parents of prospective students, there will be an open house from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 9 — that's the same hours as the preschool.

Tree House is located at 1730 S. 4th Ave. For more information about the day care program or enrollment in the preschool, call 783-TREE (-8733). The center's hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Worley has a master's degree in education and taught for 12 years for Crane Elementary School District.

The business was begun four years ago by Edna Thompson and Sabra K. Lemmon.

By the way, that puts it just up the street from the new Family Dollar Store that is nearing completion.
