Road Report 7-7-13
4th Avenue repaving - ADOT closures in 16th Street intersection nightly July 7-11
As part of the ongoing pavement improvement project on Business Route 8 (Fourth Avenue) in Yuma, Arizona Department of Transportation crews will need to close the 16th Street intersection nightly beginning Sunday, July 7 through Thursday, July 11 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
To avoid disrupting traffic at this busy intersection, crews will be milling and paving the intersection and completing utility work on manholes during nighttime hours. Crews will mill and pave the north side of the intersection first, followed by the south side of the intersection. Message boards will be placed at key locations throughout the work zone to inform drivers of road closures and offer alternate routes. Law enforcement will also be on-site to monitor traffic and enforce speed limits.
Improvements from First Street to the AZ/CA state line are also taking place simultaneously between Monday and Friday from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Because lane restrictions are in place across the bridge, oversize loads and large farm equipment operators should plan ahead and use alternate routes.
