Bank surveillance video shows the man suspected of attempting to rob Mohave State Bank on Tuesday.

Photo released of botched bank robbery suspect

Yuma police released photos Wednesday of the man who fled before getting any money in a botched robbery attempt at the Mohave State Bank.

The robbery happened Tuesday at about 1:24 p.m. at the bank, 1800 S. 4th Ave. Yuma police say the robber entered the bank and presented the teller with a note demanding money. He also verbally requested money.

Police did not say what caused the robber to leave the bank without getting any money.

There were customers inside the bank at the time, but no one was injured. According to police, the robber did not display a weapon. The bank was closed for several hours while investigators worked on the scene.

The suspect is described as a male in his 30s, with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing sunglasses, a blue ball cap, a gray long-sleeved shirt and jeans. He fled the area in dark gray or blue vehicle.

YPD encourages anyone with information about this case to call Detective Escott at 373-4680 or 373-4700, or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
