Famous Dave's Barbecue gets top honors for Best Barbecue and Best Catering from voters of the Yuma's Best poll.

"Barbecue is our specialty," said Art Ruanova, general manager. "We take a lot of pride in what we do, and what we do is barbecue.

"We have probably some of the best tools for barbecue. We have what we call Southern Pride ovens, and we barbecue ribs in them for three and a half hours.

"And we barbecue pork for eight and a half hours. We use real hickory wood. We don't cut any corners as far as quality is concerned."

Every load of barbecue is tested for taste, freshness, appearance and texture before any of it ever leaves the kitchen, he said.

"We call ourselves barbecue masters because this is what we do, and we have to do it better than anyone else.

A family restaurant established in Yuma in 2006, Famous Dave's provides dine-in, to-go and catering services. "We're one of the biggest catering businesses in Yuma," Ruanova said.

The restaurant also has a full-service bar with Happy Hour, he said.

"I think the people that voted, they know about barbecue, and they know who is the best, because we really are the best.

"We really appreciate this (the Yuma's Best title) a lot.

"Our service is incredible in Yuma. Our Yuma location is in the top 10 percent in the nation for Famous Dave's."

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
