Dave, you get free barbecue Wednesday

  If your name is Dave and you are hungry for barbecue, then Wednesday is your lucky day.

  Famous Dave's BBQ is inviting anyone named Dave or David to eat for free at the local restaurant, 1501 S. Yuma Palms Parkway.

  Those who want the free entree will need valid photo identification. They must also eat on site and be accompanied by someone not named Dave who orders an entree item. Alcohol is not included in the offer, because, the restaurant said, "Liquor has been known to make Daves rowdy, (see also David Hasselhoff and cheeseburger)."

  "In the midst of these tough economic times, we wanted to give a break to some people in the Yuma community and honor all those folks who share our namesake," said Dave Dworak of Sonoran Barbeque, LLC, the franchisee who owns and operates Famous Dave's in Yuma.

  "We also are honoring Famous Dave's founder, Dave Anderson, who really is the epitome of the American success story. He is a man who started with a single restaurant and a quest for barbecue excellence and now has a nationwide company of award-winning family eateries."

  According to Dworak, Anderson set out on a quest for perfecting the art of barbecue when he was just a young boy in Chicago. He said Anderson was dedicated, bound and determined to make the world's best barbecue, and these traits are the secret that makes the restaurant chain famous.

  Dworak said Anderson believed there are no shortcuts to real, honest barbecue, and all of the food he created is given the same love and attention today.
