ON DECK: Welcome back, baseball

I had the pleasure of covering an Arizona Western College baseball game on Saturday and it reminded me just how much I missed the sport.

I've written before about how excited I was for spring training this year, but full blown excitement set in on Saturday.

To me, there's nothing quite like the sound of a bat cracking against a baseball. I was completely in my element.

My editor told me that since the teams play double-headers that it would a long day. But the innings seemed to fly by, before I knew it was over.

I'll be honest, I wasn't looking forward to coming back to work after my midweek break. But covering baseball changed all that.

I think we all have a sport that puts a twinkle in our eye and a smile on our face. For me, it's baseball.
