Queen of rock Pat Benatar to perform at Quechan Casino Resort

Eighties rock queen Pat Benatar will perform at the Quechan Casino Resort before hitting the road in a summer tour with other legendary rock bands.

Benatar, best known for the hits “Love is a Battlefield,” “Heartbreaker,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “We Belong,” will appear in concert July 20 at the casino's Pipa Event Center, 525 Algodones Road, Winterhaven, Calif.

Concert-goers must be at least 21 years old to attend. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the concert will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $29. To purchase tickets, go to http://www.playqcr.net or http://startickets.com.

Benatar will perform with husband and longtime band member Neil Giraldo. The couple has been married for 30 years and making music together for more than 33 years, according to their fan website.

Born Patricia Andrzejewski in 1953 in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised on Long Island, Benatar was discovered by Chrysalis Records' talent scouts in 1977, while singing at a New York club.

After being signed to the label, Benatar recruited Giraldo to assemble a backup band for the recording of her debut album, “In The Heat of the Night.” Giraldo also penned a song for the album. They have been together since then.

Aside from being her “soulmate,” Giraldo wears many hats, including as producer, arranger, co-writer and lead guitarist. They are also parents to two daughters.

“Musically, we're still in touch with each other. We like to play together. It's who's cooking dinner tonight that's the problem,” Benatar quipped on her fan website.

With six platinum and four gold albums under their belt, Benatar and Giraldo have sold more than 30 million copies of their 12 original albums along with two live records and an anthology.

They are currently developing new music that is slated to be released in 2013.

In between albums, they enjoy spending time with their daughters, doing philanthropic work, writing music and touring. They also work together on production projects and managing their vitamin company.

The four-time Grammy winner will give a new generation of fans a chance to enjoy her music during a summer concert tour that kicks off the day after her appearance at the Quechan Casino Resort.

Benatar and Giraldo will be hitting the road with legendary rock bands Journey and Loverboy starting July 21 with shows spanning across the U.S.

“Performing for our fans is the best part of what we do and we're excited this year to have some surprises and introduce some new material to everyone,” the couple stated on the fan website.
