Wirtzbergers, Gila Bend top Antelope

The Antelope girls basketball team hung tight with Gila Bend through the first half on Tuesday before eventually falling 71-31 at home.

Gila Bend, led by former Yuma Catholic standouts Ashley and Alex Wirtzberger, led 34-26 at half before going on a 33-8 run in the third quarter. The Wirtzberger sisters combined for 36 points in the game.

Antelope's leading scorer was Kayla Miranda with 14 points, and Jessica Rodriguez added seven. The Lady Rams will play this weekend tournament at Kofa.
