Best Catering Service: Karla's Kreations Personal Chef Service

Though an accomplished personal chef and caterer, Karla Billdt had never made a Passover dinner before a client asked her to prepare one.

Apparently the client was satisfied, because Billdt was asked back the next year.

“The first two years, I had a lot to learn, a lot.”

And then she returned the next couple of year on Passover to serve the same client.

She's also prepared Italian wedding cookies, Italian meals, Greek food and otherwise personalized the menu to fit any tastes.

“I don't limit myself,” Billdt said. “I'm willing to try to learn to do anything people require.”

Her business slogan is, “If it has to do with food, Karla can do it.”

Her clients must agree. Her business, Karla's Kreations Personal Chef & Catering Service, was chosen Best Catering Service in the Yuma Sun's Yuma's Best survey of the favorite businesses, entertainment and recreational venues, and other attractions in the area.

As a personal chef, Billdt does the grocery shopping, brings the food over to the clients' homes and does the cooking, the serving and the cleanup. She also happens to be relieving clients of the stress and headaches they might feel if they had to handle all those tasks.

Presentation is key in every meal she prepares. “Our minds eat with our eyes first and then our taste buds,” she explained.

Billdt also takes on requests to cater events such as parties, business gatherings and weddings of up to about 200 people.

“Once I take on a client, their party is my party,” she said. “I treat it as if it were my party.”

In one of her most popular planned meals, she brings with her a massage therapist who gives the clients a massage while Billdt prepares the meal. In another, she serves as both personal chef and teacher as she gives the clients hands-on instruction in preparing the meal they will eat.
