Meeting to map out superintendent search
District 1 will find candidate to succeed Tom Rushin
A consultant will meet with the governing board of the Yuma Elementary School District 1 today to map out the steps to select a new superintendent for the district.
The governing board recently selected the Arizona School Board Association to conduct the search for candidates to succeed current Superintendent Tom Rushin, who expects to retire June 30 after working 41 years for the district in various capacities.
Panfilo Contreras, the association's executive director, will address the board at its 5:30 p.m. meeting in the district board room, 450 6th Ave., to outline the association's planned steps in the search. The meeting is open to the public.
During the meeting, Contreras is expected to discuss the development of qualifications for job candidates and a timeline for the search process.
Following its search, the association will provide a list of superintendent candidates to the governing board, which will select the superintendent.
