Raider boys runners-up at state

The Cibola boys cross country team grabbed three top-10 finishes and took second place at the 5A-II State Championship Meet at Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix Saturday.
 
The Raiders finished seven points behind first-place Tucson-Ironwood Ridge. Phoenix-Camelback was third.
 
Eduardo Guerrero paced the Raiders with a sixth-place finish and was followed by Ryan Norton (seventh), Richard Clayton (eighth), Josh Lopez (19th) and Alonzo Perez (59th).
 
Cibola coach Kris Norton said he was impressed by his team's finish in a field of 32 teams.
 
"We're really proud of finish and our kids had some great races," Norton said. "Any time you can get a trophy you know your guys did outstanding."  
 
The Cibola girls team had one top 10 finish - Monica Huston, who took eighth.
