YPD training at old Red Lobster building
The Yuma Police Department Special Enforcement Unit plans to use the former Red Lobster building for training on Saturday.
Exercises will be taking place at the building, located at the corner of 4th Avenue and 16th Street, from 7 a.m. to noon.
The training will include simulated gunfire, smoke, noise and flash distraction devices which will be used to enhance the reality of the exercises, the police department said in a news release.
The building also has been used for training exercises by the Yuma Fire Department this week. Smoke generators have been placed in the restaurant to simulate fires as firefighters practice rescues and other scenarios.
