Hunter Steakhouse permanently closes doors
Comments 0 | Recommend 0To the question of when the Hunter Steakhouse will reopen, the answer is it won't.
The longtime restaurant, 2355 S. 4th Ave., had unexpectly closed in mid-July, with a sign posted on the door simply stating that it was closed for the summer.
However, it won't be reopening and the building it was leasing is on the market, said Felisa Taylor. An agent with A.T. Pancrazi Real Estate, Taylor is working with the property owner to sell or lease the building.
It's birthday time for DHG Construction, which turned 10 years old this month. Since being founded in September 1999 by Agustin Tumbaga Jr., the company has built hundreds of homes and a variety of commercial projects and expanded to garage door services and an electrical division.
For its birthday, the company is in the middle of building Ambiance Salon at Tuscany Plaza and soon will start on a 6,000-square-foot office building and foot court in Somerton to be located next to the Dairy Queen. The foot court will include a Mexican restaurant and turnkey opportunities for three other eateries.
India House, 2071 S. 4th Ave., has a new owner and name. Radha Mallick purchased the restaurant this summer, and as part of the change has added a manager, chef and server.
Now called India Palace, the restaurant serves Indian cuisine. Mallick said she has completed her liquor license application and is now able to offer Indian beer and wines.
Robert and Renee Haworth have started a new marketing and promotion company called Vice-tech.com to help small and medium-size businesses and groups market and promote themselves with the latest Internet technology.
The company can help with video Internet communications and e-mail marketing as well as market tracking.
As part of the service, the Haworths will be offering free classes on available technology.
Construction has begun on tenant improvements to a building in Yuma Commerce Center for CFX Battery, reported Alan Kircher, city of Yuma assistant building official. The company will occupy about 4,970 square feet in an exiting building at 7211 E. 30th St.
The Azusa, Calif.-based company makes high-tech batteries for use by the auto industry, consumers, health care, military and industry, according to its Web site.
Company officials did not respond to e-mails from Comings and Goings seeking comment.
In other building activity around Yuma, Kircher reported:
• Permits have been issued and work has started for an expansion to the Shay Oil Chevron convenience store at 32nd Street and Avenue B. The project will about add 2,700 square feet.
• Permits have been issued to Halls Construction for a shell office building to be constructed in Tuscany Plaza, Lot 11. The building will be 3,300 square feet.
• Work is under way for a new 2,300-square-foot building for Avanti Skin Care in Tuscany Plaza, Lot 15.
• Construction also has started for a new medical office for Dr. Robert Barnett at Tuscany Plaza, Lot 13. It will be about 2,100 square feet.
• New plans have been submitted for a 1,800-square-foot tire facility at Love's Travel Stop, 2911 E. Gila Ridge Road. The new facility will sell tires and offer such services as repairing flats.
• Tenant improvement plans have been submitted for an ice cream shop at Tamarack Center on 24th Street near Arizona Western College. The ice cream shop, Blast, will go into the 1,360-square-foot space formerly occupied by Movie Shack.
• As a reminder - that block building under construction on Giss Parkway near the roundabout is a real estate office for Realtor Christine McConnaughay. Actual address is 331 S. Madison Ave. No completion date has been announced yet.
The ABC Supply Co. Inc. Solution Center, 2742 E. 16th St., has recently been redesigned. It offers product information and selection for contractors and their clients, said store manager Warren Halliday. The business is a supplier of roofing, siding, windows and other exterior building products for area contractors.
A new sign will be going up this week at Yuma Community Bank, 2285 S. 4th Ave., signaling that it will now be a branch of The Foothills Bank. The Foothills Bank recently purchased Yuma Community Bank.
Studio 7 by Karla has added a Paul Mitchell Tool Bar so visitors can try out Paul Mitchell tools on their hair before making a decision to purchase them, announced owner Karla Isbell.
The salon, 2115 S. Arizona Ave., Suite 1, exclusively sells Paul Mitchell color products and features a Paul Mitchell Color Bar for enhanced coloring services (an oversight in a previous Comings and Goings). It also has a Paul Mitchell Wash House to provide clients a private, relaxing experience.
Two additions to the staff are Dina Blandford, a graduate of a Paul Mitchell Partner School, and Loyda Lupercido, who is in training to become a Paul Mitchell educator.
Clear Talk will be opening a store in San Luis, possibly by October or November. It will be located at 582 Piceno Drive, Suite 1401, in the San Luis Shopping Center next to Walmart.
Jeanie's Party & Costumes will be celebrating its first anniversary Saturday in its new store at 1335 S. Pacific Ave., Suite 210 in Pacific Plaza. Owner Jeanne Linde invites people to come by from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for free balloons and cake.
