Yuma Vision Center plans for new building
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Plans have been submitted by Yuma Vision Center for a new building at 201 W. 28th St., reported Alan Kircher, city of Yuma assistant building official. It will be about 7,600 square feet.
In other building activity around the city, he reported:
• Plans are under review for La Posada Apartments. The planned 80-unit apartment complex for low-income people will be located at 1900 W. 30th St. According to a public notice published in the Yuma Sun, the complex will consist of 10 two-story buildings and have an estimated cost of $9.7 million.
• Permits have been issued for tenant improvements at Tamarack Center for Blast, an ice cream shop.
• T-Mobile is now occupying Suite 102 of the Yuma Plaza Shops at the corner of Pacific Avenue and 16th Street.
• A permit has been issued for a maintenance shop addition for Nunes Cooling at 4571 E. Gila Ridge Road. Nunes Cooling processes winter produce.
• A permit also has been issued for an addition to Earthbound Farms at 3701 S. Avenue 3-1/2E. Earthbound Farms is an organic produce company.
• Plans have been submitted for a renovation to Gene Doten Photography, 119 S. Gila St.
Kindred Homes is opening its second eight-bed assisted living home for seniors at 2686 E. 15-1/2 St., announced Georganne Erickson, owner and manager.
Kindred Homes specializes in the care of patients suffering with Alzheimer's and dementia. Caregivers are CPR and first aid certified.
RISE Services has moved to 1030 W. 24th St., Suites D and E, in the former Women's Health building, announced Irma Valenzuela, regional director. The phone number remains the same.
The building was renovated to house the organization's administrative office and day treatment programs for adults with developmental and other disabilities.
RISE is a nonprofit organization that specializes in home- and community-based support services for children and adults with disabilities, children with mental health challenges and aging adults.
For the past 15 years, RISE Services has been at 1700 S. 1st Ave.
That construction project at North Frontage Road and Avenue 14E next to Fortuna del Oro is for a 222-unit self-storage business being developed by Jesse Gomez.
Spaces will vary in size, with some large enough for motorboats and recreational vehicles; some spaces will be refrigerated. Anticipated completion is early 2010.
Xtinkt Training Center and Sanchez Boxing will be opening its doors Monday at 276 Orange Ave., Suite 1, offering mixed martial arts, boxing and sports fitness for all ages.
It's the project of partners Clint LaRose, Carlos and Monica Figueroa and Jose Sanchez.
Area women soon will have a new option for working out. From Mind To Body Inc. Pole Fitness will offer pole fitness and exotic dance fitness classes in Yuma, beginning Thursday, reported Edith Aboul-hosn.
Founder of From Mind To Body, she recently moved to Yuma from Laguna Beach, Calif., to open a studio at 3970 W. 24th St., Suite 104.
Family practitioner Nickie Chouinard has joined the medical staff at Runyan Orthopedic Institute, 2851 S. Avenue B, Suite 100. She has been in family practice for seven years.
The orthopedic office is the practice of Dr. Todd Runyan, who also has been joined by his father, Dr. Donald Runyan. The elder Runyan, a doctor of osteopathy, is board certified in family practice.
Dream a Little Dream has moved and now is located at 2573 E. 24th St., Suite C. The business, owned by Joely Beck, is a mother's and children's boutique with a large Web-based business.
Beck said she moved to a larger location to promote more local business.
Nearby, plans are under way for the opening of Pure Bliss Day Spa at 2589 E. 24th St. Owned by Cynthia Aguirre and managed by Dominique Parry, the spa will offer such services as skin care, manicures and massage therapy.
The business will open Oct. 27 and have a grand opening Oct. 29.
Dr. Aaron Salmon, a National Health Scholar, has joined the medical staff of the Sunset Community Health Center's dental clinic in San Luis, Ariz., where he will be providing dental services.
Salmon graduated in May from Marquette University School of Dentistry, Milwaukee, Wis..
With him on staff, Sunset will again offer a dental rotation with Wellton.
Norma Lopez, district manager for Jafra Cosmetics, has moved. The Jafra Cosmetics Sales & Training Center is now located at 3300 S. 8th Ave., Suite C, in Westward Village.
