-Interviewing workshop canceled

The workshop, "More Than a Gut Feeling," scheduled for Friday has been canceled due to lack of interest.

-Desert safety seminar

A desert safety seminar will be presented by Scott Fisher from Arizona Game and Fish from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Yuma County Department Development Services, Aldrich Hall Auditorium, 2351 W. 26th St.
 
Topics will include hazards of the desert (including backyards), desert wildlife, poisonous and venomous dwellers of the desert, wilderness first aid and survival tips and equipment.

-QuickBooks class

A day-long beginning QuickBooks workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 25 (with an hour lunch break) at the Arizona Western College Entrepreneurial Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Drive.
 
Cost of $91 includes the textbook.

Hands-on training will provide information on setting up a company's records and handling monthly accounting chores, such as developing a chart of accounts, receiving payments and making deposits, creating invoices, paying bills and working with asset and liability accounts.

-Ergonomics safety training

The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health will present a program addressing ergonomics issues and recognized hazards that can cause cumulative trauma disorders, such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
 
Personnel responsible for the development and implementation of safety programs and policies are encouraged to attend to learn about risk factors for injury, types of injuries that may occur and prevention strategies.
 
The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 30 at the Yuma Civic Center. Sponsors are the Yuma Area Safety Council, city of Yuma and Yuma County.

-Heat stress awareness training

A workshop will provide basic information on the effects of heat on the body, treatment of heat-induced illnesses and strategies to protect workers from heat stress, especially during the coming summer months.
 
The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health will present the program April 30 at the Yuma Civic Center. The workshop will be presented in English from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and in Spanish from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
