Beginning QuickBooks

  A beginners class on the use of QuickBooks for accounting chores will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Arizona Western College Entrepreneurial Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Drive. Cost is $40.

Safety training

  The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health will offer an excavation safety awareness class from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Yuma Civic Center.

Basic electrical workshop

  John Montenegro will lead a basic electricity workshop at the Arizona Western College Entrepreneurial Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Drive.

  The workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday. Participants are asked to select one day.

  Topics will include how electricity is generated, electrical safety around the home, home wiring for the do-it-yourselfer and how to replace existing switches, receptacles and light fixtures.

Private pilot course

  Arizona Western College will be offering a private pilot ground school (TEC 111) course during the fall semester.

  Instructor Mike Taylor has an extensive background in aviation. The three-credit course, which begins this Wednesday from 6 to 8:45 p.m. and continues every Wednesday on AWC’s Main Campus, will prepare students for the FAA private pilot written examination.

Protective equipment

  The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health will conduct a safety training class addressing the personal protective equipment standards for general industry and the construction sectors.

   The free class will meet from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Yuma Civic Center.
