If you want to see Humphrey Bogart on the silver screen, or if your kids wants to catch their favorite cartoon, head over to the Historic Yuma Theatre this summer.

The Time Warner Cable Summer Movie Series is back again this year, showing classic cartoon characters like Yogi Bear, the Flintstones and the Jetsons, along with legendary movies such as "Singing in the Rain" and "Casablanca."

Time Warner Cable will also hand out movie giveaways during the showings while supplies last. There will also be a chance to win prizes throughout the evening.

The movies will be shown at the Historic Yuma Theatre, 254 S. Main St., on July 1 and 2.

The general public is invited, and admission is free. For more information, call 373-5202.

Time Warner Cable officials are anticipating that people of all ages will enjoy the event with their friends and family.

"We have partnered with the Yuma Art Center to bring a fun and friendly family event to Yuma," said Time Warner Cable marketing manager Jody Veeder. "We utilize our partnerships with channels like Turner Classic Movies and the Cartoon Network to bring these screenings to Yuma. Part of Time Warner Cable's mission and values is to bring  the community together and to connect people with each other."

Veeder said the showings will be a great way for families and friends to be together while having a good time.

"This will be on the big screen, and it will be so much fun for the little ones as they see their favorite cartoon characters come alive."

Veeder said Time Warner Cable does its best to support the arts.

"This is an event we have been doing for quite a few years. I want people to recognize this is something they can look forward to every year and make it a summertime tradition," she said. "We always look for opportunities to provide wholesome family friendly events."
