Caterpillar or Butterfly?
Two caterpillars were seen in a cartoon conversing with each other. It is an amusing and yet potentially sad picture. A butterfly flew above the caterpillars. One caterpillar said to the other, “You would never get me to fly like that.”
That's how it is for many people. They see an opportunity that will not be fulfilled; declaring “that's not for me” closes the door on a beautifully rewarding life.
How often we step away from an opportunity of making a significant contribution to our world by saying, “there are other people more qualified than I am” or “I'm a klutz when it comes to that.” Or you may say, “I would be embarrassed” or “I've never done that before” (The famous five words of failure).
The caterpillar on the ground commenting and staring at the butterfly needs to be remembered when considering not trying.
There is more in you than you know. God delights in helping us do the unexpected. Imagine what happens when the “caterpillar” experiences the Creator's plan.
