Celebrate your dad
Sunday, we celebrate the father, whether that person is biological, adopted, otherwise appointed or chosen.
Whether your dad, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, godfather or “role father,” is your own flesh and blood matters not. What matters is the unique, caring, trusting bond and relationship you have with that person.
I’ve had my fair share of “dads,” mainly family members and close friends fulfilling that role after my dad died. They’ve provided love and comfort, and their own unique perspective on life, to which I am eternally grateful. And I’ll pass a lot of their sage advice on to my daughter someday.
Sunday could be a sad, empty one for those of us who have no physically present “dad.” But I choose to celebrate the wonderful “fathers” in my life who’ve always been there for me. Won’t you join me?
Here’s to anyone who’s ever been a “dad” to someone. Happy Father’s Day.
