You are chosen for the winning team

We remember being on the neighborhood playing field. Choice was in progress. Teams were being selected. Choosing teams can be a very hurtful experience. No one enjoys being rejected or chosen last.

Players selected are chosen as winners. No one likes to be labeled a loser. Best players are chosen first. The other players are left until last. Paul, the Apostle, was chosen as a disciple by Jesus…last. In his letter to the church in Ephesus, Paul gives perspective in regard to being chosen. He expresses thankfulness to God for being selected. It is made clear that the choice was because of God's concept — to make everything better. God did not choose us because we are good. God's choice has to do with potential. Note the statement, “long, long ago He (God) desired to adopt us into His family...He wanted us to enter into the celebration of His lavish gift-giving...” Ephesians 1:4-6 [MSG]

We were chosen in love by God. We were chosen because of God's patience and hope. God chose us first before creating the world. God chose us to be winners. God knows what we can accomplish through His provision. Our coach will help us. Similarity of the team captain, Jesus, will become apparent. We are adopted into the “family team.” God is pleased when we keep the team rules. Capacity to accomplish a winning team attitude has been provided. God is the team owner. Jesus is the captain. The Holy Spirit is our executive coach. You have been chosen to be on the winning team.
