Christmas – A splendid living season
On this Christmas Day, my wife, Karen, and I extend to you a sincere desire.
May your Christmas be fulfilling and provide memories that pleasantly refresh all your remaining days.
Christmas is a time for living. You possibly have already received and given presents. Gifts are enjoyed because they are given and received.
Giving and receiving gifts at Christmas is enriched by the service of others. Care is being extended today. Firemen are providing security and safety. World-wide protection is assured by military personnel. Laws establishing peace prevail because of visible presence of sheriff and police.
These public service people put their lives on the line providing peaceful protection. As we celebrate the holiday many will be served by someone that has cooked a meal, someone that presents the meal, someone that keeps the door open.
Service like this reminds us of God, who gave us his son. Jesus Christ came to this world to serve. May his likeness fill our hearts so that we, in turn, can be a gift of service to those around us.
Christmas is living … giving and receiving.
The Rev. Paul Killingsworth serves as the pastor at Yuma First Assembly.
