Yuma's Best 2012: A-1 Flood & Fire Restoration

A-1 Flood & Fire Restoration may be better known to customers for helping clean up homes and businesses in the wake of a disaster.

But the business can help you clean up the stains and dirt that accumulate on your carpet from everyday wear and tear. In fact, A-1 started out as a carpet cleaning business more than 25 years ago.

The business at 2896 E. 16th St., Suite A, tied with Yuma's Stanley Steemer franchise for first-place honors in the category of Best Carpet Cleaning in 2012 in Yuma's Best, the Yuma Sun's annual poll of readers' favorite businesses.

Apart from carpet cleaning — and, of course, restoration following fire or flooding — A-1 also does upholstery cleaning and tile and grout cleaning.

A-1 owner Stanley Ramey attributes the impressive showing of his business in Yuma's Best to its strict attention to customers' needs.

“We care for clients and for their property, and we stay up to date on products” used in the industry, he said.

A-1 employees, he added, undergo ongoing training to ensure they are up-to-date on new techniques used in carpet cleaning.

A-1 employs 23 people, among them cleaning technicians, water damage technicians, personal property structure technicians and construction workers.

Ramey added that his employees like to maintain a first-name basis with their customers.

Ramey and his wife Jane have operated A-1 since 1986. It started in carpet cleaning and transitioned into the field of home and business restoration as it found a need for that work.
