Support of airport projects on council agenda
A resolution of support for the Yuma County Airport Authority and its efforts to attract business to the area will be before the Yuma City Council when it meets this week.
The resolution calls for support of the authority's development of the Defense Contractors Complex on the west side of the airport to provide facilities for use by defense contractors working at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma and Yuma Proving Ground.
The council meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the council chambers at Yuma City Hall, One City Plaza.
Also before the agenda are several requests for special liquor licenses for a number of fundraising events at Yuma Palms RV Resort, 3400 S. Avenue A, in December and January.
The council also will be asked to approve a contract for the design of water and wastewater treatment plant upgrades and related services with Carollo Engineers, HDR Engineering Inc. and Wilson Engineers LLC, all of Phoenix.
Another item on the agenda is a measure to approve an agreement with American West Baseball League for use of Ray Kroc Baseball Complex for winter league play in January and February.
In addition to Wednesday's regular meeting, the council will hold a special roundtable at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Conference Room 191. Agenda items include a presentation on state parks, an agreement for the maintenance of restored areas of Yuma East Wetlands and the city's efforts to start a curbside recycling program.
After the roundtable meeting, the council will move to the council chambers at 6 p.m. Tuesday for its work session. The agenda includes a year-end report on the city's Clean and Beautiful Commission along with strategic plans for the future.
