Second round of Yuma Star is sung
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The second group of Yuma Star contestants took the stage Wednesday, vying for their chance to become Yuma's next star. Twenty contestants performed at the Historic Yuma Theatre, 254 Main St. Eighteen contestants performed during the first round Aug. 15.
Online voting for the first round of performers ends at noon Thursday. Fans can cast their votes online for the second group of performers from noon Friday until noon Aug. 30.
A panel of judges chose 12 winners from each Wednesday performance to advance to the semifinalist pool.
The semifinalist pool will be featured online at www.YumaSun.com, where voters can listen to the singers and cast votes for their favorites.
The top six from each round of contestants, along with a wild card contestant chosen by The Sun, will compete in the finals Sept. 5 at the Historic Yuma Theatre.
The Yuma Star, the artist formerly known as Yuma Idol, will be chosen based on a combination of judges' votes and popular votes on finals night.
Tickets for the finals are $6, available at The Sun, 2055 S. Arizona Ave., and at the door on a space-available basis. No re-entry.
