One arrested, one sought after river fight
A San Diego-area man has been booked into Yuma County jail on one count each of assault and of disorderly conduct after a fight on the Colorado River.
According to Capt. Eben Bratcher, spokesman for the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, both Yuma County and Imperial County deputies responded to a fight in progress at a sandbar north of Zoo Island.
When they arrived, four victims claimed to have been assaulted by two male suspects. One of the suspects had already left the scene. Bratcher said the suspect was described as 6 foot 7 inches tall and 330 pounds. The victims said he is fully tattooed and has a bald head.
The second suspect was identified as 42-year-old Kevin Straiton, from San Diego. He was stopped by an Imperial County deputy and eventually arrested and booked in the jail on one count of assault and one count of disorderly conduct.
As of Tuesday, there was no confirmation that alcohol was involved. Authorities are still looking for the first suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Yuma County Sheriff's Office at 783-4427.
