Sups to decide on $2,400 grant Monday

Grants are part of the agenda Monday for the Yuma County Board of Supervisors.

The supervisors will vote on whether to authorize the county Emergency Management director to accept $2,400 from the Arizona Department of Homeland Security for use in the Citizens Corps Council Program. The small grant will go toward citizen preparedness in times of crisis.

The county had applied for about $4,800 in funding.

The board may also approve the fiscal year 2013 Fill the Gap application. Yuma County Superior Court submits the application to partially or fully fund a Superior Court judge, the caseflow manager and two Clerk of the Superior Court employees for a total $258,321. Fill the Gap is funded by special revenue generated by a percentage of appellate court filing fees and supplemented by local “set aside” funds.

Also on Monday, the supervisors may canvass the results of the Nov. 6 election and discuss re-establishing a property abatement fund to clean up dilapidated and unkempt properties that have become hazardous.
