Comments 0 | Recommend 0Here's a roundup of news to get Wellton-area residents and visitors caught up on what's been happening at Coyote Wash:
• The Coyote Wash Microtel Inn & Suites has been purchased by Andarona Hospitality LLC. The same company owns and operates the Desert Grove Motel in Yuma.
• Shooters Saloon & Cantina in the Coyote Wash Shopping Center closed its doors, and the new tenant is W. Arthur’s Beach Club & Grill. The new owners are busy remodeling the bar, which will now include a full kitchen ready to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plans are to open the new family-friendly establishment this month.
• Mr. Lu’s closed its doors at the shopping center. New tenant K.F. Chen’s China Bistro opened in October and is open daily for lunch and dinner.
• Arizona RV Parts has relocated from its previous location on Arizona Avenue to the Coyote Wash Shopping Center.
• The Coyote Wash Golf Course and Coyote Den Restaurant are under the full operation and management of John Baas Golf Management Inc. Baas has been the golf pro at the golf course. The golf course is open seven days a week, and the restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch.

To the question about the construction activity on Avenue 4E south of Arizona Market Place, the answer is the first phase of a public safety training facility for city of Yuma police and firefighters, said Alan Kircher, deputy city building official.
An outdoor facility is being developed with a streetscape, he said. Future plans call for adding various buildings for public safety training and a possible new city fire station.

With the economic downturn, Yuma likely won't be getting many new businesses this year. Therefore, instead of the annual Christmas wish list to Santa, I propose a Thanksgiving column expressing appreciation for the businesses and opportunities we do have.
I've already heard from several readers. However, there's still time for others to share the favorite things they're thankful for this year, like the businesses that have come to Yuma, the additional recreational opportunities we can now enjoy and the locally owned shops and restaurants that give our community a unique flavor.

There's a new hair studio in town with an old-time look of 1950s Hollywood, aptly named Hollywood Hair Company.
Owner Brittany Trigg said she's always dreamed of having her own beauty salon themed old Hollywood with a retro yet modern feel to it.
In addition to a variety of hair services, Trigg said she hopes to bring in massage therapists and aestheticians for more of a spa experience. There's also a boutique in the middle section of the shop.
Located at 1025 S. 3rd Ave. (by La Fonda Restaurant), the new studio can be reached at 783-3630.

The Chevron station at 592 E. 16th St. will be closed a little longer than anticipated while new pumps are being installed that will dispense diesel fuel.
By the way, an earlier report of the station's temporary closure misnamed the restaurant inside the convenience store at that location. It's a Blimpie's Subs and Salads.
My apologies to Blimpie's.
