Maybe it's the live music. Maybe it's the security. Or maybe it's all the events that makes Jimmie Dee's Yuma's Best Late Night Hangout, Best Place to Dance and Best Bar.

But one thing's for sure, says Ricky Good, owner: "It's a fun place to be!

"We have live music on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We have live DJs on Thursdays and during band breaks on Fridays and Saturdays.

"We're always doing promotions. For the rodeo, we have Rock and Roll weekend, we have a St. Patty's Party, a beach party, Jimmie Dee's Golf Tournament and Jimmie Dee's Roping this year for the first time. After events, we end up doing a party at the bar.

"We get people in here from all walks of life, from construction workers to doctors and lawyers. We get a lot of law enforcement people in here."

But the law enforcement folks are off duty and at the bar for a good time, he said. "I run security nightly, and extra security for events, so it's a pretty safe place."

The nostalgia of an old bar in historic downtown Yuma also draws people, he said. Jimmie Dee's is located at 38 W. 2nd St., and the number is 783-5647. Hours of operation are 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday.
