A little perspective as things heat up
As usual, I am amused by the panic mode that many are slipping into with the forecast for temperatures around 118 degrees by the end of the week and into the weekend.
Holy cow, Yuma! In case you haven't noticed, it's a natural occurrence.
All of this reminds me of the age old story that goes, “It gets so hot in Yuma that we have to turn on the heater to keep cool.” Get it? The heaters put out air cooler than the outside temperature.
Which brings me to last week, when I opened my garage door in the middle of the afternoon, and this rush of “cool” air hit me in the face. Upon further examination, however, I found the thermometer inside the garage read 90 degrees, but it was “cooler” than the 108 degrees outside, according to my patio thermometer.
So that's where I am, thinking 90 degrees is cool and refreshing. At least I'm not getting out my heater yet.
