Where have they all gone at county?

I have been calling Yuma County Development Services since Veterans' Day week. I got their answering machine which asks if I know my party's number, and if I do, go ahead and dial it now...or dial the operator.

I got an operator who would not transfer my call, but gave me a number to dial for that person.

In dialing that number that was given, I get another answering service which stated “I'm on the phone, or away from my desk. Please leave a message and we will call you back.” It is all in the same location: building inspector, county engineer and the office in charge of building occupancy.

As I write this, I have called each office three times and left a message. It is now three weeks. No calls have been returned.

Are they working anymore or all on holiday leave?

My calls were about the liability they have placed on Yuma County taxpayers in giving the CVS store in the Foothills an occupancy permit without having the utility company that supplied service repair sidewalk that was removed. Presently this is a hazard to pedestrians, with a utility cut two inches deep and gravel scattered over the sidewalk.

Maybe our new county supervisor should look into this and make sure that there is someone one left in the office to answer questions and take complaints.
