Foothills man is still missing after nearly a week
UPDATED - The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is still searching for an 82-year-old Foothills man who has been missing since Thursday.
Laurence “Jack” Doering, a native of Spokane, Washington, is 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighs 170 pounds, and has gray hair and blue eyes. He has suffered from Alzheimer's the past four years and may be confused or lost.
According to YCSO, Doering was last seen at about 9:45 a.m. Thursday driving a gold 2002 Chevrolet Suburban with Idaho license plates southbound on Foothills Boulevard.
Doering, who does not usually drive, left the Foothills Plaza shopping center, located at 11256 S. Foothills Blvd., where he had gone to get a haircut, according to his wife. He was last seen driving in the direction of his residence, but never arrived.
The Morning News of Blackfoot, Idaho, reports that Doering's daughter-in-law, Holly Doering, says the family believes he may be trying to drive back to Blackfoot. The family asks that anyone who sees him to call the authorities.
The paper also reports that family members also stated that Doering had a $100 dollar bill in his wallet when he went missing, a quarter of a tank of gas in the vehicle and no food or change of clothing.
Capt. Eben Bratcher said the sheriff's office had received a report of a potential sighting of the man in the Foothills on Tuesday morning and went to investigate, but did not locate the man.
YCSO asks anyone with any information about Doering's whereabouts to call its Foothills Substation at 342-1477 or the main line at 783-4427. They can also call the Blackfoot Police Department at 208-785-1234.
EDITOR'S NOTE: An article in Wednesday’s Yuma Sun on page A6 titled "Foothills man still missing after nearly a week" gave the incorrect hometown of Laurence "Jack" Doering. He is a native of Spokane, Wash. Also, information was intially provided that he left his wife behind at the Foothills Plaza shopping center, located at 11256 S. Foothills Blvd., where they had gone to get haircuts. She was not with him.
