Apple joining in education's e-book revolution
As an instructor I have seen an amazing shift in teaching and learning approaches through the years.
While it’s known college textbooks are incredibly expensive, you may not know that high school books are often equally expensive.
In an economy where schools are struggling, Apple just announced it will be launching an iPad solution that hopes to replace the heavy cumbersome backpack of standard high school textbooks than can frequently be outdated as soon as they are printed.
These e-books are expected to cost $15 or less. Not only is this amazing savings for schools, but it also ensures current information be at the students and instructors fingertips.
I have personally been a part of the successful transition from textbooks to e-books. Through online e-books, up-to-date resources such additional videos, supporting resources and even missed lectures are available with a simple touch. I applaud Apple for bringing this interactive educational development to public schools. The classroom as we recognize it today will likely not exist in the next 10 years and as the classroom and technology continue to integrate, education will continue to evolve.
