San Luis soccer clinches region
Comments 0 | Recommend 0San Luis clinched its sixth straight regular season region title with a 3-2 overtime win against Cibola on Friday.
Erik Luzanilla toe-poked in the game-winning goal for the Sidewinders (10-2, 6-1 Gila Valley) on an assist from Josue Sanchez with 1:23 to play in the first extra session.
Cibola (6-5, 3-3) lead 2-1 in the first half, its second goal coming 24 seconds after the first one, before Sanchez tied it a 2-2 with 7:20 remaining in the half on an assist from Jesus Rojas. Sanchez also had an assist on San Luis' first goal, scored by Ricardo Ruiz.
"We both had good chances to score in the second half but nothing went in," San Luis coach Tim Conroy said. "It was a great game by both teams."
