Grants available for nonprofit groups
Nonprofit organizations in the Yuma area can compete for grants offered through the Yuma Community Foundation and Arizona Community Foundation.
One-time grants up to $7,000 per organization will be awarded to nonprofit organizations to improve their capacities to serve their communities, as part of the foundations's spring competitive grant cycle.
To be considered, each applicant nonprofit organization must complete an organization profile on Arizona Community Foundation's Web site, www.azfoundation.org.
In addition, the Arizona Community Foundation will host a workshop to assist nonprofit organizations with the application process and online registration. The session will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 29 at the Arizona Western College Career Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Drive, Room 170. For reservations, call Judy Gresser at 539-5343.
Eligible to apply for the grants are any government agency, any tribal entity or organization and Arizona 501(c)(3) organization other than public, private and charter schools.
Any Arizona organizations in the process of completing their 501(c)(3) credentials with the Internal Revenue Service may apply for the grants using a fiscal agent. Documentation showing progress on the 501(c)(3) application must be on file with the foundation prior to grant review.
Schools are not eligible to apply. The Arizona Community Foundation currently funds schools through special initiatives. Organizations uncertain of their eligibility may inquire by sending an e-mail to email@example.com.
The grant review process will take place in May with final notification in early June.
