Players to watch: While reigning ACCAC Freshman of the Year Lisette Longomo has been on the shelf with a shoulder injury, Samantha Wallace has been picking up the slack. Wallace currently leads the Matadors in scoring (16.5 points per game), rebounding (12.9), field goal percentage (52.6) and 3-point field goal percentage (33.3). ... For the Spartans, Megan Fennessy is averaging a team-high 14.2 points a game and nearly two steals per contest.
The lowdown: This is the first game for the Matadors since their 20-point win over Chandler-Gilbert on Dec. 12. The players had a two-week break for the holidays and returned to practice on Thursday. ... Longomo will be missing her 10th straight game because of her shoulder injury. ... The last time the Matadors faced the Spartans, Arizona Western came away with an 81-51 victory.
