Ryan M. Gibson
Army Private Second Class Ryan M. Gibson, a 2007 Yuma High School graduate, is undergoing advanced infantry training as a light-wheel duty mechanic at Fort Jackson, S.C.
After that, he is scheduled to undergo airborne training at Fort Benning, Ga. The son of Carroll and Helene Gibson of Yuma, he has already completed basic combat training with the 3rd Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment at Fort Jackson.
Gibson comes from a line of servicemen. His father is retired from the Air Force, and both grandfathers served in the Army.
Janay L. Albarran
Army Pvt. Janay L. Albarran, a 2006 graduate of Cibola High School, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
She is the granddaughter of Guadalupe Gutierrez of Somerton.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system and basic first aid.
