PREP SOFTBALL

Kofa falls to Gila Ridge

Kofa committed five errors and Gila Ridge got some timely hitting as the Hawks topped the Kings 7-0 on Monday.

Nikki Kelland pitched a one-hitter for the Hawks. Madison Covey had three hits and scored twice while Sydney Rice had two hits and three RBIs.

“We just put the ball in play and made them play defense,” Gila Ridge coach Jamie McGalliard said. “There defense made some mistakes and we got hits when we needed them.”

Sarai Camacho started and took the loss for the Kings.

“Errors, errors, errors and errors. That killed us,” Kofa coach Emma Morrison said. “It’s tough playing the Monday afternoon after spring break. They were ready to play and we were not.”
