More events in August
I just got an e-mail from Yuma Parks and Rec on events in August. Here are a few highlights.
Work is progressing at the West Wetlands Park to get the frisbee golf area up and running. Right now they are working on irrigation, with plans to plant grass in September. The goal is to have a place to play frisbee golf this winter. They are also upgrading the parking lot at Joe Henry Park - say farewell to potholes!
The Scorpions will play at Desert Sun Stadium Aug. 12, 13, 22, 23, 25, 26, 29-31. Ticket prices range from $6-10, with $2 off any ticket for the military, senior citizens and children.
Desert Hills Golf Course is featuring a Miss Yuma County Golf Tournament Aug. 16th. Shotgun start is at 8 a.m. Call 344-4653 for more information.
The 36th Army Band will present "Snapshots of America" at 7 p.m. Aug. 26th and 27th at the Yuma Art Center, 254 S. Main St. Admission is free, but you need to have a ticket, which will be available at the art center Aug. 12. For more information, call 373-5202.
The Yuma Civic Center will host Jesus Jam 2008 at 7 p.m. Aug 22, presented by KCFY Radio. Need to Breathe will open the event for Christian rock band Pillar. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $14 at the door. Groups of 10 or more can pick up their tickets for $8 a piece. Tickets are available at KCFY, Ark Christian Bookstore, Audio Einstein's and AEA Federal Credit Union. For more information, call 341-9730.
