Red Cross assisting victims of Wellton mobile home fire
The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter has provided assistance to two adults and one child who lost their mobile home to a fire in Wellton early Tuesday morning.
According to Brian Gomez, communications specialist for the American Red Cross, the agency provided the victims with a week's worth of clothing and food and have put them up in a hotel for three days.
“We provided for their immediate needs,” Gomez said. “We obviously can't replace what they lost, but we can get them back on their feet.”
Gomez said the fire happened at 2:19 a.m. Tuesday at a mobile home in Wellton's Desert Rose RV Park, which is located at 29297 Arizona Ave.
Gomez said no one was injured in the fire, but a 41-year-old woman, a 19-year-old male and a 13-year-old juvenile boy were home at the time.
Gomez said he did not know the relationship of the victims and that the Red Cross would work with other agencies it associates with in the coming days to find them more permanent shelter if necessary.
