ON DECK: The unpopularity of Roger Goodell
One of my favorite websites, reddit.com, routinely has a feature called Ask Me Anything. Celebrities, politicians, musicians and other famous people get on the site's forum and basically allow the public to ask them anything they want.
On Monday afternoon, as I was surfing the site while having lunch, I saw it: “I am Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner, AMA (ask me anything).”
He must not have thought this one through. A poll recently came out that said 39 percent of the NFL players approve of Goodell, which isn't bad at all – if you compare it with, say, Congress.
Some people asked thoughtful questions, regarding what rule could change (Goodell's answer: “reevaluating all low blocks on defenders”), but more people insulted him and used the opportunity to air their grievances against him.
It made me think either a lot of fans really don't care for Goodell or James Harrison created thousands of screen names and has way too much time on his hands.
