Trilingual Mass will celebrate Guadalupe mission
Immaculate Conception Church will celebrate the history of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission, 417 S. 15th Ave., Sunday with a special trilingual Mass, potluck and historical presentation.
The Mass, which starts at 11:30 a.m., will be conducted in English, Spanish and Tagalog. The service will be followed by traditional Mexican festivities and music, a potluck and a historical presentation. Several historic photos will be on display inside the mission.
“It is open to the whole community,” said Father Javier Perez of Immaculate Conception.
“We will have a Mexican celebration with mariachis and food for everybody, just to recognize the 96 years of services at Santa Guadalupe Chapel. More than 15 different Hispanic groups will be bringing some offerings — symbols to present to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
“Hopefully not only Catholics will be willing to come and join us, have a good time with us and recognize it has been very important what the church has done for the whole community.”
