Snap Fitness to open second gym in the Foothills
Comments 0 | Recommend 0 Getting fit has become a snap - or at least more convenient - with the opening last fall of Snap Fitness at Las Palmillas.
Now the same convenience is coming to the Foothills.
Franchise owner Josh Schaubach is in the process of opening a second fitness center in the Pioneer Shopping Center (next to Da Boyz). He's hoping to open the doors between mid-July and early August.
In the meantime, he's working on introducing virtual reality workout equipment to his existing gym, hopefully by the end of the month.
Stop by and see what other ideas he's come up with.
Snap Fitness is a nationwide chain billed as offering "time-saving convenience, money-saving value and fat-burning workouts."
The gym has a key card system so members have access 24 hours a day, seven days a week to work out when it's convenient for them.
It has workout machines, cardio-vascular equipment, free weights and circuit routines.
For more information, call the gym at 782-3939.
Schaubach also is looking for a third location, preferably on the west side of town.

The Organic Patch is no more.
For its next life, the restaurant at 204 S. Madison Ave. is being metamorphosed into a nice little Italian place by Scott Mustard. He's hoping to open by June 1 for lunch, progressing to dinner by the fall.
He has quite a background in cooking, going back to when he was a little boy, learning the art from his Italian mother and Scotch-Irish father. He managed the Westward Look Resort in Tucson, then was with the Gavi Italian Restaurant for several years. After a stint as a caterer, a friend encouraged him to come to Yuma, where he taught Italian foods for Tina's Cocina. He also bartends at the Hunter.
His newest project is Mustard's Dining and Catering. Everything will be made "from scratch," he said, adding that he "cooks from the heart." He can be reached at 345-9013.

The filing for Chapter 11 protection is for a group of affiliate stations that does not include KSWT, said Andrew Wyatt, general manager. "KSWT isn't one of them."
He said there will be no impact on the station's employees, vendors, advertisers or viewers. KSWT also carries the CW Network.

Gary and Cherie Boyle, franchise owners of Econo Lube N Tune, 1954 4th Ave., will be going from business owners to landlords.
In 2002, they acquired the franchise for Econo Lube and over the past six years have built it up. With their franchise term up, they opted not to renew it and instead will be leasing the property, which they own, back to the parent company effective Monday morning. The company has signed two five-year options, Gary said.
He wasn't sure what name will be used for the business, but it may be co-branded Meineke Car Care/Econo Lube. The business will continue to offer oil changes and other car services and minor maintenance repairs. The phone number will remain 782-0515.
As for Gary, he may return to his former career as a mining engineer - he previously managed Picacho Mine - and get caught up on home projects.
