Yuma Fire Department and Rural/Metro Fire Department respond to a residential fire at 2742 S. 19th Ave. at approximately 6:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Home heavily damaged by fire

A Yuma home was heavily damaged by fire Tuesday evening.

Firefighters from the Yuma Fire Department and Rural/Metro were dispatched at about 6:20 p.m. to a trailer home on the 2700 block of South 19th Avenue to find it fully involved.

YFD arrived first and knocked down the flames, then switched control of the scene to Rural/Metro. Both agencies responded because the neighborhood is in a county island very close to city limits and it was unclear which jurisdiction the home was in.

Everybody got out of the home without injury. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter provided assistance Wednesday to two adults who lost their house to the fire.

"Red Cross volunteers met their needs, giving them food, clothing and shelter after the blaze," said Red Cross spokesman Brian Gomez.
